Backing up your data is very important.
As a minimum there should be a final backup done for each payroll period. This should then stored on the cloud or in a safe place away from the computer on which the payroll is being processed.
IMPORTANCE OF BACKUP
Failure to keep good backups can be catastrophic and could result in you not being able to pay your staff on time.
Backups safeguard against loss of data on your computer, the loss of the computer itself, and can help you to go back to a place before errors were processed.
HISTORY OF BACKUP
It is important to keep a history of backups. Ideally keep the backups for each period end for the current tax year.
BACKUP PROCEDURE
To perform a backup select the 'Backup' menu option under the 'File' menu.
Select the 'Backup Path' (destination for the backup) using the Ellipsis button. It is suggested that a specific folder is selected on the computer's hard-drive to keep a history of backups.
Accept, or change the default File Name. The default details the name of the payroll being backed up, the Payroll ID, the period number, the date the backup is being taken (in this example 24 October). Then press the 'Backup' button for the backup to commence.
