Process - Leave - Study

Modified on Thu, 07 Mar 2024 at 10:14 AM

Some organizations allow their employees to claim Study leave for courses attended or examination preparation and attendance.

To process Study Leave:

Step 1 - Set up the Study Leave Transaction Code

To process sick leave days taken first ensure that the Transaction Code has been set up. For further information on how to create the Study Leave Transaction Code see this link and see the heading 'Leave Other - Study'.

Step 2 -  Setup Study Leave Rules that apply

To set up the number of Study days leave that are applicable and at what rate see this link.  The example given is that of Special Leave.  The same principals apply to Study leave.

In this section you will see that you can set, for example 90 days sick leave at 100% pay and 90 days at 50% pay.

Step 3 - Process the Study Leave Transaction

For further information on how to process a transaction using Payslip Input see this link.

Note: We selected the 'Payslip Input' method to process the transaction.  This would normally be the most appropriate method since there would normally be relatively few employees having Study Leave processed.  It is also possible to use other input methods such as Speed Input.

BASE ON YEARS SERVICE

Different rules may apply to members of staff that have been employed longer. E.g. employees that have worked 20 years, or over, may be paid at full pay for x days and not just at 50% after x number of days.  To set this up create a separate sick leave parameter.  Follow the steps, above, for creating a study leave parameter but place a tick against 'Base on Years Service' then enter the number of years where this parameter would apply.

For further information on how setup the Study Leave based on years' service and the percentages that apply see this link.
