Contributions to ZIMDEF (Zimbabwe Manpower Development Fund) are obligatory.
The contributions are intended to finance the development of critical and highly skilled manpower in Zimbabwe.

ZIMDEF is set as 1% of the wage bill which includes Overtime and Allowances. ZIMDEF includes pension contributions, NSSA, Medical Aid contributions and WCIF.
