Modified on Thu, 14 Mar at 3:10 PM

In terms of Section 18 of the Labour Act as read with Section 65 (7) of the Constitution of Zimbabwe women have a right to a fully paid maternity leave.  Employees need at least one year of service to qualify for paid maternity leave. Such leave may only be granted upon the production of a medical certificate. It may only be granted three times for the same employer and only once during a 24 month period calculated from the day previous leave was granted. Employees are entitled to up at least 21 days before confinement. The total duration of paid maternity leave is up to 98 days. Unpaid maternity leave extending the normal duration of paid leave may be granted upon request.  For more information on how to setup the Mater Leave transaction Code see the heading 'Leave Other - Maternity' under this link.

Processing Maternity leave onto the employee's payslip is mostly done using the 'Payslip Input' processing method.  To process Maternity leave using this method see the heading 'Leave', the sub-heading 'To Process a Leave Transaction on Payslip Input' under this link.
